Firefly Collective was started in July 2017

Our collective produces plays that will often emphasize environmental and social issues. We want to use the arts to advocate for, educate about, and spread awareness of leading local environmental and social issues and organizations. Throughout we hope to help promote public policy and make change through membership, advocacy, and support. All this via live theatre!

There are a number of youth musicians and actors involved in our collective which gives them the opportunity to learn and practise their craft as well as gain performance experience.

How we want to impact community

A direct result of our collective will include community members becoming aware and educated through different creative (Arts focused) means about environmental organizations in and around the greater Toronto and Hamilton area. Environmental stewardship includes action, and support, and lobbying government for positive change. Results will bring membership, action, and support to these organizations (for example Friends of the Greenbelt Foundation) and therefore improve the outcome of the goals of these organizations through Firefly Collective project ideas. I

" In one sense, theatre has always been a collective creation, drawing on the collaborative energies of a team of artists who share the vision of the work they create" (Canadian Encylopedia).
